Hello from Natal

Today was another very long day since we just checked in at the hotel and it is 4:15 am!! My friend and I are beginning to feel the fatigue from the fast and furious pace of our vacation and especially the lack of sleep... We hope to rest tomorrow on the beach here in Natal and just relax before we head back to Rio again to finish our vacation and see all the famous Rio sights... The reason for our late check in today is due to an emergency landing north of Rio because of an air conditioning problem so they say??  We had to de-plane then board another plane and finally continue our journey north after all the luggage was moved to the new plane!!!

We are safe and sound and that is all that matters at this point....

Natal is a resort town in the north east of Brazil not far from the equator, therefore they don't change time like many places that follow the DST.. The sound of the waves crashing on the beach made for a soothing background noise....

We had a great day in Natal today, just walking on the beach and enjoying the whole atmosphere and great weather! We walked as far as we could from our hotel.. The beach was sparsely populated  by tourists so there were long stretches of empty beach so one does not have to fight for a small parcel of sand to sit on like it was the case on Copa !!! We walked past some interesting rock formations along the beach and took few pictures there... By late afternoon we headed to a narrow but busy street along the beach that had restaurants and all sorts of gift shops, typical of any beach town in the States!! We picked a place to eat some local food which happened to be a combination of fish, chicken and beef with  French fries and rice.. It was ok we thought. We then headed to a cafe where we  had ice cream and expresso coffee! What a treat... We then walked back to our hotel ... The first day in Natal was a success since we rested and enjoyed the beach for a change....

Tomorrow we will spend the whole day in Natal before heading to Rio after midnight ... We think we will rent a buggy and drive on the sand dunes.. Apparently it is fun but we will find out ...
