Hello from Barcelona

Well it has been more than a year since I last posted on this blog, not happy about that I have to say!  I need to increase the frequency of my trips as the bucket list is way too long to finish in one life time. As I said in my earlier posts, the hardest part of any trip is getting to the final destination in a good shape and with no delays... This time around, the later is ok, no delays or missed connections!, however, I am not in a good shape at all! I have a head cold, and add to that I flew in the middle seat which was a disaster. I stood in the back of the plane for 4 hours!! I need my money back from United... I even directed traffic to the bathrooms in the back of the plane and did some aerobics! I arrived at the hotel at 9:00 am and they told me my room will be ready at 3:00 pm so 6 long hours of waiting for the room... ugh! Oh well, may be all my bad luck is happening now and the rest of the trip will be smooth sailing, only time will tell...

I pleaded my case to the hotel managers and I finally got a room at 11 am and not 3 pm! Very happy about that.. the room is nice and has a view....

The hotel people warned me about pick-pocketing in the city so I have something to worry about just like Quito Ecuador ...

Stepped out of the hotel and it is nice and warm here in Barca.. I had my first cafe au lait with a cookie.. beautiful clean streets with lots of trees...

My tasks for the day were accomplished: find the conference hotel, register, check out the venues and  the shortest way to get there. All in all very good... my hotel is just a couple of blocks from the conference hotel...

Barcelona is a ghost city on Sundays, not many people out on the streets may be everyone is on the beaches given the heat...
