My stay in Lyon is coming to an end in a sad way: it is raining again!!! I cheked out of the hotel at about 10:00 am but left my backpack in the luggage room to pick up later. I headed to the highest point in Lyon, a church overlooking the whole city!! There was a very light drizzle all the way and it got progressively heavy as I climbed up a very steep hill... There were some steep steps on my way which reminded me the Great Wall of China!! I started the climb with a good pace but ended completely exhausted and out of breath!! Better work on my climbing skills if I want to conquer Everest's base camp a year from now!!! When I got to the top, the views were awesome... I also discovered that Lyon is not that big of a city, it does not cover that much land! It is a very compact city crossed by two rivers; Rhône and Saône; with the downtown surrounded by water from all sides.. I have to say, Lyon is a really nice city and I advice anyone heading to France to put Lyon on their itinerary !! It has been a pleasant surprise though I was told by friends that it is a nice city... In any way, I am now drying up in my hotel lobby waiting for my TGV ride to Besançon later this afternoon.
