European Adventure 2025: Day (13) DRESDEN

I made it to my seventh city in six countries in 13 Days!! Amazing, but i m beginning to see fatigue starting to show up !! To combat that i have decided to stay two days here in Dresden!! First off what i have seen in Dresden today is really breathtaking so that is one more reason for stay longer! I am not running a race, this is a vacation and it is supposed to be relaxing not stressful either… the hotel i m staying at is wonderful too and in the middle of everything so just one more reason to extend my stay here… Berlin was not a place I wanted to stay longer, too much chaos, construction and noise so not ideal for resting!! Dresden is the exact opposite!! Just like I ran into two bright students yesterday on my way to Berlin, i ran into a middle aged lady with her mom going to Dresden as well.. she spoke English very well so she helped me through the chaos of Berlin train station which was great! This is why I travel, running into nice people from everywhere and helping each other … Dresden is much smaller, cleaner, quieter and less crowded than Berlin so today I m a lot more relaxed..

My selection of cities may seem to some to be random, but far from that!! Each of these cities has a sad history; Warsaw is where world war II started! One can argue it was Gdansk but the brutality was fierce in Warsaw!! Berlin was and still is the capital of Germany, that is where Hitler’s government was located. After the war, it was divided into east and west, the east was Russian controlled whereas the west was controlled by the US and its western allies! The division ended in 1989, under the Bush senior presidency. Now why Dresden?? Well Dresden was completely destroyed (or nearly), by the allied relentless fire bombing. Most buildings burned down and one can see the scars even today.. the black soot on the remaining buildings is testament to the big fires the city suffered from in that bombing campaign!!

As the world rushes to yet another tense situation between current powerful nations, it is good to remind ourselves what happened in similar situations in the past! Humanity loses no matter who the winner is… History also teaches us that arrogance is always followed by humiliation … so be humble… so with that said here are the pictures from Dresden…

One of the many cathedrals and churches in Dresden,
this one was right next to my hotel
