Patagonia: Torres Del Paine (Chile)

Torres Del Paine will remain in my memory for a while for many reasons: (1) the 15 hour bus ride was a slow torture, (2) Torre Del Paine itself was spectacular and beyond expectation (3) Patagonia weather was in full display, sunny, full fledged hurricane force winds and horizontal rain, snow in the mountains, all in one hour (4) wild animals everywhere. As our tour guide put it “Torres Del Paine tour can become a safari at any moment”, condors,  ostriches, foxes, guanacos, rabbits... in addition to sheep, cows and horses. We also had a near miss bus crash on the way back to El Calafate but I slept through that one, thank god! I was in the back of the bus on the way back and my friend was upfront, he was not sleeping but I was so he witnessed the wild swerving of the bus to avoid a wild animal on the road. In any case, the day was a wild one to say the least so much so that I did not have time for an entry in the blog as I was completely out of it. What made the whole experience even worse the bureaucratic nightmare at the border between Chile and Argentina... I got FOUR stamps on my passport in a day just to see a beautiful mountain peak and you know what it was worth it... certainly for somebody who loves watching birds fly, seeing the condor fly high above my head was just an awesome sight... the second largest bird after the albatross with a wingspan of 2 to 3 meters, ~ 8 to 10 ft.

Here are few pictures from today... tomorrow “the end of the world” also known as “Tierra Del Fuego” or simply Ushuaia, the southern most city on the planet!!!!
