First Post Covid Trip to Algeria (5): Algiers

Today was an interesting day! I started off not wanting to go anywhere given the lousy weather but then ended up going with my nephew to Algiers to visit another school I attended some 41 years ago!!!! More specifically, I went to the department of physics at the university of Algiers. All the professors I once knew either died or retired so it was hard to communicate with any of them. Nonetheless, the new people were welcoming and understanding as well… so much so that I was welcomed to speak to groups of students in their classes, which I did in English off course… I also met the head of the department and agreed to go back in the future to teach one week accelerated classes. All in all, it was a very productive day … I was hoping to squeeze some time for sightseeing but the days are short and the sunset came too fast so we headed back to my sister’s home …
