I was extremely lazy this morning, first the jet lag is hitting hard then came the fatigue from the last few days and then my brain was working in over drive plotting the whole trip so it was too much to handle! However, when in this situation action is needed and I did… I went to the front desk and asked to extend my stay by another day luckily my room was not taken and lady even gave me a nice discount which was even better… The extension gave me time to think what to do… too many competing ideas in my head… The front desk lady was so sweet, she gave me ideas for the day and that was huge.. starting with breakfast in a typical Portuguese coffee shop then walking down to the river while enjoying all the attractions on the way there .. The sun came out which made the whole difference … I went to train station to see the various paintings on walls… it was amazing !! Breath taking stuff.. and then all these old buildings everywhere you look .. lots of cranes in the landscape showing lots of refurbishing going on in the city … a sign of a city being reborn again.. the river front was just packed with people and musicians everywhere playing … very lively indeed .. I found a seat in one of the coffee bars and sat down for a drink and enjoying some music and watching people being happy from all sorts of countries, religions and languages… this gave me hope that humanity is alive and well here in Portugal.. we can all get along and be happy if we accept our differences and respect each other … that is why I travel to regain this feeling of hope that our humanity has not left the planet yet… darkness will be defeated just as we did before… my day ended with a great seafood dinner in a Brazilian restaurant… followed by a coffee and a Portuguese pastry in a coffee shop and that was my day … hoping for another fabulous day tomorrow… ttfn
