Girona Day II : The Heat is ON

It is Sunday and I woke up here in Girona around 9:00 am .. I wanted to have the breakfast buffet which ends at 11:00... when on vacation breakfast is critical to my day because I walk a lot so I need the energy to burn... also often times I skip lunch altogether so a good breakfast is important. This buffet, however, was no match to the one in Barcelona but it is ok... after breakfast I came back to the room for some more rest before going out...

I left my hotel around 1:00 pm and walked to the independencia place, which turned out to be so close to my hotel.. it is hot in Girona today, just scorching heat! Very few people on the streets even in the busy old section of town... but that will change at night when people come out of the wood work and the streets are bubbling with activity so it is just a matter of time... one thing I neglected to mention yesterday is that Girona is a hot bed for the Catalonian sepratist movement or independence!! There are Catalonian flags everywhere..... A good friend of mine told me not to get involved in any liberation movement anymore, one revolution is enough on my resume! The Berber cultural movement of 1980 is still fresh in my memory.. I do sympathize with minorities all over the world for their struggles to survive in today’s world! Not easy I have to say..

There is also a very well-known Jewish quater in Girona that dates back to the 1200s.. the Jews had thriving communities all over Spain under the Moors! But both of them were kicked out by the crusaders in the 1500s ...

The Sun sets on Girona and its rivers but the city is just coming to life
