Namche to Debuche

The rest day came and left and we are back on the trails! Namche Bazaar to Debuche was another hard day for us according to our guide because we will climb another 400 meters or 1320 ft!! Debuche is at 3800 meters that is 12540 ft. The day started with breakfast at 7:00 am and we hit the trail around 8:00! The beginning was rather rough, straight uphill for a good 45 minutes! That was a good wake up call for us all... after that steep climb, the trail flattened but with lots of ups and downs and very rocky as well, which is bad for my feet! Just before lunch we descended straight to the river Fungi Tanga where we had lunch in a small village along the river! It was cute!! But after that good lunch, which off course was vegetarian, another uphill trail started and it was tough! The uphill went on for a good hour and 30 minutes! Just brutal climb and we all huffed and puffed all the way! Altitude did not help either... at the top of the hill was Thangbuche where a famous Buddhist monastery was! A couple of us went in, I decided to forgo that and continue to Debuche where we arrived after a half hour downhill trek! The tea house was more like a farm house with animals in the yard but a very peaceful setting none the less!! The main eating area was upstairs and was very crowded with trekkers and it was quite a scene to see all the groups chatting and being very happy. We played cards until 8:30 pm or so then went to bed!!!

The huge snow capped mountains in a distance

Exactement was building about the mountains in a distance: we are heading that way!!

Our tea house in Debuche: more like a farm house!

Beautiful Rododanderons along our way to Debuche

Rocky trail along the beautiful valley towards Debuche

Buddhist temples everywhere along the way

Porters carry huge loads: they do not use their shoulders but rather their heads, back and hands!
