Day II in Barcelona: All Business

The day was long and tiring and with a jet-lag it was painful at times! I listened to many speakers from NASA and other US universities, yes the US is well represented here! My talk was late in the day so I had to save some energy for that... I rehearsed the talk in my head enough times that I did not need to look at my slights as I memorized pretty much everything and then some.

I had many side discussions with other researcher from different parts if the world.. English was a problem at times but for the most part we communicated ok... I loved the fact that many presenters were young students! They were all nervous like I used to be .... I enjoyed giving them compliments on their talks as I remember how much it meant to me when I was their age. Some will continue to shine and become leaders and some will move on to other greener pastures ...

There was a reception at the end of the day which I spent talking to Russian scientist interested in my work.. he said he will be in touch through email once he goes back to Russia ... his English was good. I learned that they struggle for research funding the same way we do in the states but are allowed to team up for European Union funding ...

At the reception they served some snacks and drinks but did not take advantage of that as I was talking with the Russian scientist... so after that I searched for a restaurant to get dinner before going back to my hotel to rest... what a day!!

The fun part of my trip is about to start now that my talk is done with...
