Patagonia Seen From the Sky

I have finally arrived at my favorite destination: Patagonia! After a nice stop in Santiago Chile for three days, a one day stop in Buenos Aires Argentina, two very early morning flights, I am finally in El Calafate, the heart of Patagonia! The flight from Buenos Aires to El Calafate with a short stop in Bariloche was very smooth. The weather was awesome and the views from the plane were spectacular...  here is a sequence of pictures I took from the plane...

High above Buenos Aires

Endless plains of Patagonia

Beautiful lakes with different colors

Greenish-blue lake

Blue and brown lakes

Greenish-blue river in a vast desert like plain

Lake outside El Calafate

Snowy mountain  peaks

Snow and barren landscape

Beautiful surrounded by snow covered peaks

Patagonia has wowed me from the air and I know it will wow me on the ground!!!!  There are no  words powerful enough to describe what I saw today from the air ...

When we arrived at El Calafate, we took a taxi to our hotel in town.. it took us some 30 minutes to get there. The hotel is a four star and looked very impressive. The staff were welcoming and courteous and all went well.. we were very tired from the grueling schedule of the last two days so we decided to take it easy for few hours... i managed to get some  much needed sleep. By 5:00 we headed to town to look for a dinner place. Since lamb and beef are the speciality of the area so the decision was easy. I went for lamb and my friend went for beef ... my lamb was rather greasy while my friend loved his beef.. after dinner we went to a coffee shop with awesome pastries. We  tried a couple with espresso and tea.. we then went for a long walk exploring our new town.
