Santiago Chile: Day II

Having fully recovered from my bad flight, I started increasing the level on intensity of my vacation... today was devoted entirely to Santiago and its surroundings. First we learned bright and early that all museums are closed on Mondays!!! The reason given was that they open on Sunday so they need a day of rest and cleaning so Monday is the chosen closing day... well I should have done my homework on this but did not so onto plan B, what can we do instead? Well we jumped on the double decker bus and crisscrossed the city for few hours... then we took the funicular, « a cog train » of sorts, 900 feet above Santiago to get some awesome panoramic views and visit the statue of holly Mary high above Santiago.. this reminded me of my visit to the Corcovado in Rio de Janero ( also known as Christ the redeemer). We spent a lot of time high above Santiago, there was a nice breeze on top given that the city was baking in a 100 degree heat! Sorry northern friends, that is why I go south in winter, to run away from the cold weather... By 5 pm we decided to get back into town and go see the presidential palace and other key locations before dinner time... we walked a total of 10 miles all over the old section of town before we decided we had enough.. we headed to a bohemian  section of town and had dinner there with all sorts of arts and crafts and music surrounding us.. we walked some more after dinner then called Uber to the rescue... let me tell you Uber rocks in this place... we loved it ... it is cheaper, better and faster so Uber mania is on for the next 12 days!!!
