Alhambra is the iconic landmark in Grenada, everyone who visits Grenada ends up visiting Alhambra. Tickets are sold online, in some stores in town and at the site itself. In a high season like summer one needs to buy the tickets way ahead of the trip, one to two months ahead. But, me being the procrastinator I am, I did not buy the tickets ahead so i was prepared to pay more to get in. Since all my friends have left and I am left alone in Grenada, today was the for Alhambra!! I went online searching for tickets and to my big surprise there were tickets available and i got the senior discount too, for the first time! I tend to forget that I qualify for that now, because i am still young at heart and in my head too… My ticket was for 1 pm today so I had to get out the house and walk to Alhambra, which gives me more than my 10,000 steps regiment I am on, but these last two weeks I have been averaging 15,000 a day so I m doing great … From downtown Grenada to Alhambra it is a steep climb so one needs extra time. I made it there on time and joined the long line of people waiting to get it in.. They scanned my ticket and asked for my passport which by luck I had in my pocket today…I have been leaving my stuff at my friend’s place for safety but today i took my passport and i was happy i did … the whole visit took about 2 to 3 hours depending on your pace… What I saw made me prouder of my Berber origins more than ever before!! I felt that my ancestor made such an amazing contribution to Spain and the Iberian peninsula in general. Alhambra is the biggest historic landmark in Grenada, but one can find smaller landmarks all over town. Below are some of the pictures I took today, enjoy…
