It is said that “ a body in motion stays in motion, and a body at rest stays at rest” I belong to the first group so it is time to leave my comfort zone and go forth to discover new places and meet new people. There are so many countries left to visit that i will be busy for while… Africa, Asia and the South Pacific are wide open… My latest travel method is to get a one way ticket somewhere far and then keep moving using all means of transportation until I come back home completely exhausted…. For the second year in a row, Europe is my starting point … with the first country to visit being Portugal, and Spain being next and then who knows ???
The plane ride to Lisbon was very smooth and somewhat comfortable too… Two seats next to me were empty which made me happy, I had room to stretch and did not worry about neighbors… I did pay extra money for more space but I don’t think it is the reason the seats were empty ??? In any case, it was a nice ride… one thing I noticed about going from the states 🇺🇸 to Portugal is that the route the plane takes is more direct, i.e. From DC we headed straight east all the way to Portugal unlike other cities in Europe where we fly north along the east coast all the way to eastern Canada then cross!!! Anyway an important small detail for those of you care to know …
The total flight time to Lisbon was about 6 and 1/2 hours… not bad compared to 15 to Hong Kong!!!
Portuguese people are very nice.. some stranger helped me buy the subway ticket at the airport and told me which station to get off for my hotel … awesome I said… I found my hotel quickly, got my room, dropped my luggage and i was off to the sightseeing races… Beautiful city….
