A Vacation with Louiza (Day 4)

We woke up this morning to a typical Pacific Northwest drizzle! After a wonderful breakfast we went back to the room to pack as we decided two days were enough for now. Today’s destination is Mt Rainier. Louiza had one final stop in Seattle on her list which is the house where Kurt Cobain committed suicide. He was the lead singer for the group Nirvana. After driving through some winding roads and streets, we arrived at the house. It was not visible from the road as it was tucked away in the woods so Louiza decided to go down a small path to get closer. I parked the car and followed her. Louiza was wearing a short skirt so her legs were not protected, as she tried to get even closer she walked through some dense shrubs and got stung by a wasp or a bee!! there were also scratches from the shrubs. She took her picture of the house, but now we have to worry about a possible allergic reaction to the sting so my Benadryl came in handy. After that we had to find our way out of Seattle which , thanks to GPS, we did. We headed south, south east to Mount Rainier. After leaving I-5, the drive became more interesting as the scenery became prettier and prettier. The pine forest reminded me of the Swiss alps. We arrived at the Crystal mountain resort around 12. We bought tickets for the gondola and we were off to 6000 ft. At the top, the views of Rainier and the surrounding mountains were ..... breathtaking!!! We went for a short hike and sat on some rocks just admiring the beautiful landscape... after about an hour and tons of pictures we decided to head back down the same way we came, in a gondola! We got back to the car and drove off to our next destination, our mountain lodge where we will stay for the night. When we arrived, we were kind of shocked by how small the town was. The lodge was ok but not what the reviews said it was. Be careful what you read on Expedia or elsewhere some reviews are not truthful and today was a good example of that. Since it is only one night, Louiza and I decided to stay. The room was clean and so were the beds but the location was ... disaster! I ate a salmon burger and Louiza had a veggie burger and this was the best food in town !!!

Here are some pics...
